Petition circulates to have Andrew Jackson Post Office in San Diego renamed

This is way better than getting a letter to the editor published!

Read the story online at CBS8.com.

Check out my petition to rename the Andrew Jackson Post Office in Rolando, San Diego!

UPDATE: 6/23/2020

Dave Summers from NBC 7 showed up at my door so I couldn't turn him away.

I don't look my best but I tried.  As of about noon today, the petition has just under 500 signatures.

More UPDATES below:

On June 24th, 2020, I managed to get on KUSI-TV:

In March 2021, I was contacted by Charles T. Clark, a columnist at the San Diego Union-Tribune who did half an Op-Ed about the petition to rename my post office. Read the column here.

On November 18, 2022, my Congressmember Sara Jacobs introduced bill H.R. 9308 to change the name of the  Andrew Jackson Post Office to the Susan A. Davis Post Office.

On November 29, 2022, the bill H.R. 9308 passed the House by a majority voice vote, "...the ayes have it."

On December 19, 2022, the bill to rename my post office passed the Senate.

According to ABC News, POTUS signed the bill to rename my post office into law on December 27, 2022. It is now a violation of federal law to refer to it as the Andrew Jackson Post Office in any official document.

In March 2023, I was invited to participate in the campaign to rename Clay Park and Henry Elementary across the street from the Post Office Formerly named after Andrew Jackson. Please sign the petition here.

On July 6, 2023, Sara Jacob shouted out my name at the dedication ceremony, and it got into the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Congressman Garrett is "More Appropriate Than Thou"

Update: Garrett debate canceled amid security concerns
Wednesday, October 27, 2010
LAST UPDATED: THURSDAY OCTOBER 28, 2010, 2:16 PM
BY HERB JACKSON - THE BERGEN RECORD - STAFF WRITER
A scheduled debate today featuring Rep. Scott Garrett was abruptly cancelled by a Warren County radio station last night because of what the news director said were "security concerns."
Joyce Estey, news director for WRNJ, would not provide details about what happened, but she said station management decided to cancel the debate.
A spokesman for Garrett, R-Wantage, would not respond to a call and email for comment, but his office has had run-ins in the past with Mark Quick, an independent candidate in the race who was scheduled to participate.
Quick, a mason and landscaper from Frelinghuysen Township in Warren County, has been a vocal critic of Garrett. He has complained he cannot grow his business because competitors can hire illegal aliens with impunity.

Published Again!

Fight, don't join, the terrorists
The Easton Express Times
Wednesday, March 31, 2010

The tea partiers are consciously trying to induce a public nervous breakdown.
Whether they are sending death threats to a congressman's 5-year-old son in Florida, violently throwing money at a man with Parkinson's disease on an Ohio sidewalk or maliciously shouting the "N" word at African-American representatives at an event in Washington, D.C., the effect is utterly terrifying.

The mass hysteria that is today's Tea Party shows that the majority of us have forgotten we are supposed to be fighting terrorists, not becoming them. Do they really think the end justify the means?

When are we the people going to realize that we are not crazy after all? When will we stand up to all of this bullying? We are not safe in public. We are not safe in our homes. What will the future of our country be like if no one risks stepping out and fighting back?
